On the occasion of the development of PERCAN Activity No 514, Training Program to DREM’s on issues related to Small Scale Mining, a workshop with the following subjects was prepared:

• Basic Mining Concepts
• Artisan and Small Scale Mining Characteristics
• The Life Cycle of the Mining Activity and its Obligations
• Legal Aspects
• Administrative Procedures
• Informal Mining Procedure
• Technical Aspects of Small Scale Mining
• Environmental Aspects of Small Scale Mining
• Social Aspects of Small Scale Mining

A collaboration with a local University or local Academic Institution was searched in each region, and the participation not only from Regional Government representatives and local Small Scale Mining representatives, but also from other stakeholders interested in this matter, as well as teachers and students in order to have more professionals that know about this issue.

Given the workshops success, and the demand of the material presented, we present to you the presentation used by the Eng. Ernesto Gutierrez in the workshops of reference. We hope that the information and systematized proposals given by the Eng. Gutierrez, related to Small Scale Mining are useful.
