The PERCAN Project is pleased to anounce the launching of the Intranet for the DREMs as presented last week at the regional directors meeting.
This web site is to provide to the DREMs (Direcciones Regionales de Energía y Minas) access to information from the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) relevant to their activities as part of the ongoing process of decentralization. It is available at http://intranet.minem.gob.pe. In its first version, the Intranet provides the following:
- Follow-up of documents sent by the DREM to the MEM.
- Directory of mining companies operating in the region with contact information (and small-scale mining certification when available).
- Directory of active mining rights in the region with references to environmental impact studies and mine closure plans (when available).
- Regional information on DREM’s (regional director, contact information, human and physical resources, general information, etc.).
- Access to the MEM’s Intranet for general internal information.
The Intranet was made possible by the active collaboration between the MEM’s Information Systems Office and the PERCAN project. The PERCAN project is financed by the Canadian International Development Agency.
The web site was developed using Zope Application Server and Plone Content Management System which are both open source (free of use) software .
We look ahead for comments, questions or recommendations at aldavila@minem.gob.pe and remy_pinsonnault@roche.ca.
